2012

Monday (16 Nov) after my class, headed down to Cathay with Benson to buy 2012 movie tickets. Then we settled our lunch and went back to school to fetch my shepherd after her class. jy,ping, benson, bentay and I watched 2012 together. It’s really a nice (but long) movie. The film portrays cataclysmic events unfolding in the year 2012, as part of a possible prediction from the Mayan Calendar. Extreme solar flares heat up the Earth’s core, causing continents to suddenly shift.

It sets me thinking of certain issues in my life. Am I seizing every opportunity that is given to me? How much more can I do for the people around me? Do I cherish every moment I have with my friends and family? Am I ready for Jesus’ second coming?

One phrase to describe the whole movie – “Disaster after another“.

After movie, we went PS for dinner and walked around before heading back home.

Fireproof

Few weeks ago, I managed to sit in front of my computer screen and watched the movie Fireproof. A few months back, my brother was encouraging me to watch this movie after knowing that I’ve been watching taiwanese idol drama. He told me to invest my time in  more fruitful stuff.

This is an American Christian drama film which talks about building and strengthening of a marriage. In the 122 minutes show, Captain Caleb’s (a fire fighter) seven-year marriage to his wife Catherine is on the verge of implosion. There was lack of communication and understanding between the couple and Catherine wanted out of the marriage. When Caleb tells his father about the impending divorce, he challenges Caleb to commit to a 40-day test called, “The Love Dare“.

Caleb reluctantly agrees to do the test, but more for the sake of his father than his marriage. Caleb continues with The Love Dare, and eventually makes a life-changing commitment to God. Through the guidance of The Love Dare, and as a result of his new commitment to Christ, Caleb begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife.

So did Caleb manage to win back his wife’s heart? Go watch Fireproof!

I think it is amazing how God transformed Caleb from an insensitive husband, an internet pornography addict to someone who will take up the initiative to do the housework, taking care of his wife when she is sick. It was amazing how God made the impossible possible, and in this case, Caleb’s marriage. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Although things we are facing now are not in favor of us, do we still believe that God will work things out for us? Do you still believe?

I strongly encourage all of you to watch this. (Click here) Whether you are Christian or not, I believe that this movie will surely inspire you.

And there’s a song that touches me. It is called “While I’m waiting” by John Waller.

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord

Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead
bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience

While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve you while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord

Yes, while we are waiting for God to do His work, while we are waiting for miracles to happen, we should not stop what we are doing. We should continue to serve God, worship God, and continue running in the race. Run the race while waiting on the Lord :)

Last tuesday (29 Sept), I woke up quite early to accompany my mum to see a doctor at the polyclinic. (after 2 weeks, she decided to see a doctor). I reached the polyclinic at 9am and left about 2pm. The time was waited due to the long queue outside the consultation room. I brought along my psychology notes but the chair was super uncomfortable that made me throw my notes away and looked for Z monster.

Last friday (2 oct), I met up with my JC friends, Chien Chen and Qian Yi for lunch. The last time we met was exactly three years ago at TPY for karaoke and Swensen. As the rest were late, I walked around Wisma and got the dressing for my mum. When CC and QY came, we went Ding Tai Fung for lunch.

I’m a good girl when with good company. I’m a crazy girl when with crazy company, and that day I was the latter. The restaurant was filled with our crazy laughters, our madness. We walked from Wisma to Cathay and back to Plaza Singapura. Then, we decided to watch Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. As it was early for the movie, we went Wang Cafe for dessert. I had my mango milk and IT TASTES SUPER YUCKY!!! Oh gosh, that’s the last thing you want to get from Wang’s and I’ve wasted $6.90 of my money.

Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs

Flint Lockwood is a young inventor who has trouble seeing eye to eye with his technophobic fisherman father Tim Lockwood, because he invents many things that end up faulty, unwanted, and/or chaotic (including the “Spray-On Shoes” – which imprisoned his feet into impervious plastic shoes forever, and “rat-birds” which escaped and breed at an alarming rate). His mother always believed he would become great someday until she passed away before Flint graduated school. Flint continues to create questionable inventions such as a remote-control television that runs away and a flying car with no wings. He lives on a small, unknown (because it is “right underneath the A in “Atlantic”) island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Eventually, the market for sardines dries up, and the only food everyone can afford are sardines. Hoping to solve this problem, Flint invents a machine that converts water into food, but it fails due to the low amount of electricity. The next day during a rally for the opening of a theme park named “Sardine Land” held by Mayor Shelbourne and the sardine mascot Brent, Flint uses electricity from the nearby power station to test the machine again. Meanwhile, a weather intern from New York City, Sam Sparks, has her big break when she is sent to Swallow Falls to report the events. Flint’s machine destroys a segment of the theme park and flies into the sky. Soon after, a large set of purple clouds covers the town and rains cheeseburgers.

Flint invents a communication device that allows people to order what they want to eat, like ice cream for Officer Earl’s son Cal’s birthday and a huge amount of food for the Mayor to gorge on. The city’s name is changed to Chewandswallow, and the mayor tries to generate tourism by inviting cruise ships to the island to eat. The Mayor invites Flint to cut the ribbon for the grand re-opening of the town, but before that can happen Flint discovers that the food is getting bigger. Flint decides to turn the machine off, but the Mayor (now morbidly obese) persuades Flint to leave it on.

Just before the tourists arrive, Sam realizes that the town and the world are in danger, but Flint refuses to turn off the machine. A spaghetti twister strikes the town, and Flint runs to the lab to turn off the machine, but the Mayor destroys the communication device. A storm threatens to destroy the Earth with giant raining food. Flint, along his his pet monkey Steve, Sam, her cameraman Manny, and the sardine mascot Brent, give chase after the machine, which has transformed into a giant meatball. They destroy the machine, and Flint and Sam kiss. - Source from wikipedia.com

My Ratings: (out of 5 stars)

After movie, we took the train back. I think we got so crazy that we kept giggling about each other’s jokes and the conversation from Dhoby Ghaut to Jurong East.

On saturday (3 Oct), stayed at home to do housework and a lot of washing. In the evening, Sher came to my house. Taught her CSS codes for her project and we had mooncakes and tea together since it was the mid-autumn festival. I slept around 1am plus while Sher was still staying in my room to do her project.

The next morning (4 Oct), I woke up at 830am and prepared myself to head down to SPH for an event. Haha.. I took photo with Diana Ser and saw Jamie Teo upfront. Diana Ser was just beside me and Jamie Teo 2 steps away from me. During the event, I received sms from my sec school friend regarding the departure of my classmate’s father. So after my event, I went down to the funeral wake in the evening. My other classmates came down later after I reached. It’s been a long time I saw all these classmates. It was like a mini class gathering, but in a wrong setting. As we continued chatting, our chat changed to a match-making session. There were 3 girls (including me) and 7 more guys, and one of my classmate’s mum. We left about 10 plus. Oh ya, thanks zhan ming for sending me back home. :)

Today (5 Oct), I’m supposed to go school. I woke up in the morning, preparing myself to go to school and thought that everything will be fine and that I can endure for a few hours. But in the end, I surrendered and it was better for me to stay at home cause I was really in pain. So I went back to the bed. In the afternoon, I went downstairs to buy groceries. Suddenly, I became AUNTIE JASSY as I carried big plastic bags, small plastic bags with me. I think tomorrow I will need to do market-ING. :S

Last Monday (10 August 2009), I went Sentosa with a few cg mates for a series of ball games. When I woke up, I struggled to pull myself out from the bed. It was drizzling and the cool breeze made me feel like going back to the bed. Since it was a public holiday, everyone was sleeping and I had to wake up early to reach Vivocity at 930am.

We had our breakfast at Kopitiam and Benson got for me Carrot-Pau. It’s a combination of Carrot Cake and Char Siew Pau. Thanks ar~~

After breakfast, we head down to Sentosa. We played volleyball and captain’s ball. After all the games, it was cam-whoring session! :) But it’s not that cam-whore though. We should take the jump shots! We left Sentosa and headed to Vivocity for our lunch. Played monopoly for the rest of the day. It was indeed “fun” when everyone seems like distracting me, wanting to trade with me. HAHA..luckily I got Shawn and Si Yuan as my “consultant”, if not, I will be super blur.

After all the hoopla surrounding The Hangover, we decided to watch it. The first time I heard of this movie was from my colleagues. They mentioned that it is a great and hilarious movie.

The plot: Two days before his wedding, Doug and his three friends drive to Las Vegas for a blow-out bachelor party they’ll never forget. But, in fact, when the three groomsmen wake up the next morning, they cant remember a thing. For some reason, they find a tiger in the bathroom and a six-month-old baby in the closet of their suite at Caesars Palace. The one thing they cant find is Doug. With no clue as to what transpired and little time to spare, the trio must retrace their hazy steps and all their bad decisions in order to figure out where things went wrong and hopefully get Doug back to L.A. in time to walk down the aisle.

Personally, I think the movie is really extreme and brainless. Wah..I cant imagine  that there will have such a thing happening in real life.

Just before it stops screening at the cinema, Shirley asked me out to watch HSM3. Before that, we were FB-ing that we will have a girl’s night out at her place and watch the HSM3 Dvd after her exams. Apparently, the DVD wasnt out after her exam. Our movie was at 850pm, Vivocity. Super egg-cited to see her. She has been a very close friend since high school. I’m her girlfriend and she is my “boyfriend”. She really has the qualities of a boyfriend tt im looking out. She’s always there for me, scold me when im wrong, encourage me when im down, lending a listening ear to me.

Before the movie, we walked around vivo and took some photos.

I love HSM 1and 2. Up till now, the most impressionable song is “You are the music in me” from HSM2.

The plot of HSM 3

It’s the end of the Wildcats’ championship basketball game against the West High Knights, where team captain Troy immediately rallies their spirits. With the teams’ spirit raised, they win. Later, at Troy’s after-match party at his house, Troy and Gabriella are seen thinking about their future and wishing that their last few months at East High would not end. Meanwhile, Sharpay meets Tiara Gold, a British exchange student whom she hires to be her personal assistant.

Drama teacher Ms. Darbus notices that since there were so few sign-ups for the spring musical, Sharpay could do a one-woman show. This alarms Kelsi, who is writing the show, so she signs up almost everyone in the class for it instead. This results in Ms. Darbus announcing they will create a play about their final months at East High. In addition she reveals that Sharpay, Ryan, Kelsi, and Troy have all been considered for a scholarship at Julliard, but only one of them is to be chosen. Sharpay becomes desperate to win the scholarship, and knowing that Kelsi will give the best songs to Troy and Gabriella in the musical, she gets Ryan to try to persuade Kelsi to give them a song.

The next day, Gabriella and Troy meet on the rooftop and she teaches him how to waltz . Chad then asks Taylor to go to prom with him. She initially refuses due to his lack of enthusiasm, but later agrees when Chad proves he can put in some effort and asks again in front of half the school. The group rehearse for the musical, a scene about their prom. Meanwhile, Ryan walks in on Kelsi composing Just Wanna Be with You in the music room, and performs it with her, and then he asks her to prom halfway through. While Troy and Chad reminisce about their past, Sharpay and Tiara discover that Gabriella has a chance to go to college early. Sharpay later convinces Troy that he is the only thing keeping Gabriella from her dream. Troy talks to Gabriella about this over pizza, and after sharing an awkward goodnight, Gabriella leaves for college the next day.

Troy’s dad, Jack, talks to him about his academic future. Troy becomes angry, confused, and runs away, storming around East High confused until he finally screams at the top of his lungs in the theatre. Ms. Darbus is in the theatre and reveals that she sent in his application for Julliard, as she knew how comfortable he was on stage and how much he liked it. Troy takes no offense and thinks about the advice given to him. Troy later gets a call from Gabriella saying she won’t return to Albuquerque as she is too used to being away. On the night of prom, Troy visits Gabriella at Stanford, and the two waltz again. Troy then convinces Gabriella to return as everyone isn’t the same without her.

Back at East High, Jimmie receives a text from Troy to tell him to cover for him onstage because he is going to be late. The Julliard representatives are there, and watch as the show seems to go well. During the first number Chad, Jason, Zeke, and Martha debut, Jimmie then performs with Sharpay, receiving his own standing ovation. Troy and Gabriella appear during the second half of the show and sing their duet together. Tiara then betrays Sharpay and tells her how she is going to take over next year in the drama department. Sharpay finally learns how it feels to be humiliated, but does not wish to go down. While Tiara performs, Sharpay immediately crashes her performance and shows her up.

Ms. Darbus reveals that both Kelsi and Ryan have won the Julliard scholarship. Taylor will go to Yale University; Sharpay will go to University of Albuquerque and will assist Ms. Darbus in running the drama department in the fall. Troy decides to go to the University of California, Berkeley, where he can play basketball, study drama and be close to Gabriella. After learning about Troy’s decision, Chad runs offstage and into the school gym. There he and Troy work things out and learn that their college’s basketball teams will play each other the upcoming fall.

At the graduation ceremony, Troy gives the class speech. Throwing their caps in the air, the graduates form a giant wildcat before breaking out into song and dance. The six friends walk down the field where a curtain closes off the graduation ceremony and turns into a stage. The six stars do their signature jump and then the camera does a close up of each actor. They take their final bow as the curtain closes.
