Section 377A (0 ♥comments)

What’s 377A?
The Penal Code of Singapore, in Section 377A, provides for a jail sentence for up to two years should a man be found to have committed an act of “gross indecency” with another man.

Here, are we talking about equality? or values? Ruth Nanda Arshen once cried out, “Even as the cell is the unit of the organic body, so the family is the unit of society.” Family is the most fundamental block of society that provides love, emotional and financial support.

Recently, there’s a lot of argument on whether should be keep Section 377A or to abolish it. To get a better understanding of both sides of the argument, you can go to www.technorati.com, and type in “Section 377A” in the search box. The bloggers showed their point of view on this issue.

Some aruged that we should lift the ban as everyone has his own rights. Any state should give its citizens justice and the same human rights.

While some may argued that if we remove 377A, it threatens the foundation of the family. Traditionally, the idea of family is to have a mother, a father and a child. Government stand firm on Section 377A as Homosexuality Issue is against one’s culture, religion.

For , they made this video on the issue of Section 377A.

Like what our General Paper teachers told us, we must not be biased and should give both sides of view. So, besides showing you the website on repealing 377A, there’s also a website, Keep 377A @ http://www.Keep377A.com

So, what’s your stand? For those who are lost, perhaps, you can try reading this website. A balanced report to show why people support/oppose 377A. View here and here.

Polling for your favorite NDP Song (2 ♥comments)

Thanks for the support for polling your all-time favourite NDP song. Keep on polling. As you can see the majority (44%) voted for Home(not Daughtry’s Home but Kit Chan’s Home), which was the NDP Song for 1998. Home was written and composed by Dick Lee. Like other bloggers mentioned in their blog, this year’s NDP song- There’s No Place I’d Rather Be is like a continuation of Home as the lyrics described again about our home-Singapore.. how Singaporeans who are out of country miss their homeland and there is no other place we call a home but Singapore.

Careful analysis by Jeremy Yew, he mentioned that the first three notes of the chorus, “There’s No Place” have the same tune as “This is home”.

From Jeremy’s blog

It’s the first 3 notes of the chorus!

Just compare the tune of ”This is home…” with “There’s no place…”. They’re essentially the same notes! (i.e. 3-4-5), so you couldn’t fault someone for mistaking one song for the other.

20th century NDP Songs VS 21st century NDP Songs

Can you really remember the lyrics of the NDP songs after 2000? If you ask me, i will shake my head. Actually, i cant remember what’s last year’s NDP song =X. I agree with some of you that the arrangement of the 21st Century NDP songs are getting better than the 1990s. But were the lyrics memorable that you can confidently pick someone on the streets and ask them to sing for you? I have no problem recalling the whole lyrics for Home.”this is home truly.. where i know i must be..”

So, i was wondering what’s your favorite NDP song.. Vote now.

Hi. Finally I’m here to blog about Jay Chou’s trip to Singapore.

CX717 landed in Singapore at 1217pm, but Jay Chou only came out at around 1pm. Then, he was brought to the mini stage in Changi Airport to have a short interview with the media, and headed to Fullerton hotel and had his Movie Press Conference with Gui Lun Mei.

In the press conference, Jay mentioned that everyone’s first love should not only contain sad memories but also the nicest moments of the life. Jay mentioned that he prefers school life as that was the time where life was simple and 单纯. Cherish what we have now, and not regret it. Life is not like watching movie when you can rewind it back.
珍惜美好时光“- Jay Chou
(see video)

When asked which he prefers- actor, singer or director, Jay said that actor and singer are much easier than being a director. As a director, he had to care for alot of things, and take control of many things. But, Jay loves 3 of the different roles as different roles allow him to learn different things. His worries during the production of the movie were not able to complete filming within the time period due to sudden changes like raining. He likes the first movie, the first debut album, as he feels like the first experience of everything is the most 经典. Jay finds it hard to categorize the genre the movie is in. It can be romance movie, action movie as it involved a lot of actions like the four-hands-piano-ing.(see video)

Jay explained that playing piano or showing magic tricks are not tactics of wooing a girl. He said that he only shows a girl magic tricks and plays piano for her only when jay knows the girl very well. Jay wishes to promote this movie, and promote 华人音乐. Some piano renditions were composed by yu hao. (see video)

At 4pm, i called my friends and they rushed me to come down fast. They said until like its really the whole Singapore at the Cathay. I reached Cathay at around 6pm, and started to hunt for familiar faces. Then, i went to look for my friends. Everyone, including my friends, were sitting down just waiting for time to fly fast. So when i came to the group, everyone was cheering for me. OMG! It’s damn pai seh la.. when i was the only one standing and everyone was looking at me.

Ok, then we waited for jay to come. Suddenly, everyone started to stand up, so were we. We kept ensuring other fan groups not to be so ganjiong, and told them to sit down. Fearing that our space will be occupied, we stood up and waited.. 5 minutes.. 10 minutes..15 minutes.. Then it started to rain. Luckily i brought an umbrella and shared it with my friends. Those who didnt, used their jacket to cover their head.

At around 745pm, Jay came and everyone was shouting like MAD. Listen to the podcast here. Before Jay came, there was a contest between a lady and a man. They sang jay song, and the one with the loudest applause from the fans will grab a chance to sing The Secret Movie’s theme song. So, eventually, the guy won. Actually, both their singing were very 一般(normal). While they were singing, my friends were shouting loudly to me (although i was standing beside her..) and said “wei.. you sing better than them lo” i was again..OMG-ing.. So pai seh that i was worried that the next moment, the host- LiYi will call me out to sing. So, this guy managed to sing the theme song, while jay played the piano for him. Jay even gave the guy the ring, and everyone was so jealous. (see video)
Then, Jay and Gui Lun Mei played the piano. Listen here. After that, Jay and Gui Lun Mei entered the cinema. The crowd started to disperse and i happily took photos with Jay’s poster(kissing him).

Jay and Gui Lun Mei appeared on air later at night, and you can listen to the podcast(at the bottom of the post) by playing the media.

The next day, Jay went to St James Powerstation for TeaDance. It was very dark, almost 1000 people were there. Finding Jay was hard. Then, we had little games with Jay whereby jay will call up the person(phone numbers obtained from lucky draw).

When Jay was going back to Taiwan, there was this girl standing at the glass door and sang songs for Jay. She was weeping hard. She said something like she will support Jay forever, so happy able to see Jay in Singapore and she wants to sing songs for Jay.

Blogging to Famous (0 ♥comments)

Do you like to be famous? Who doesnt want? I WANT! Of course we want to be famous… for the good things.

In this SG blogosphere, there are potential bloggers like Mr Brown and Mr Miyagi who gained their popularity through their podcast.

Some people, in order to gain their popularity, will post their sexy photos and videos while some create stir in the blogosphere by starting some controversial arguments. (By now, you should know who i am refering to)

I was chatting with my friends about ways to be famous as a blogger. I joked with him and told him this “why not we start something arguable and debatable like criticising people? In this case, we can be famous like you-should-know-who. Isnt it wonderful? We can see our blog hits increasing everyday”

I feel that criticism on blogs to gain popularity wouldnt allow the blogger to go far. Instead, they are just “smearing” mud to their faces, marking down your own reputation.

So, for all bloggers out there, if you want to be famous, I’ve come out with some ideas about how to “Blogging to Famous“.

  1. Besides writing about your own life, you can write about things happening around you like news issues, what’s happening in the blogosphere. Something that can interest people. This case, you can gain hits as people will be searching keywords of one issue through search engines.
  2. While leaving tags in your friends blog, attach your blog url.
  3. If you have forum, you can have your blog url in the signature, so can you put it as your email signature.
  4. Write food reviews, movie reviews, album records as you can attract those food, movie, music lovers. Attach nice and “seductive” food photos. Having good reviews allow you to attract back your regular visitors.

Let the list goes on.. Post your ideas of “Blogging to Famous” by leaving a comment here.
