When the sun rose and set

After a few days of urgent planning, the committee (Ona, Benson, Bentay and I) finally came out with the program flow, the games to play for our Sentosa outing. On the sunday morning, Ona, Bentay, Benson and I met up at Vivocity and we went to Sentosa early to find a nice location for our people. Lugging all the big and small bags from the car, we decided to settle down at Palawan Beach and set up everything we need for the station games – drawing boundary lines for our games, digging the sand to bury pieces of paper, politely shoo the people that we need the place for our games. While waiting for the rest to come, we entertained ourselves by playing soccer. After that, the group came in and we started a round of  introduction and we started to play games – Bingo, Double Whacko, Kite-Making. Next was the relays – treasure hunt, fruit station, three-people race, intelligent questions and water game. Then picnic.

Hee hee.. enjoyed myself organising and playing. One thing I forgot to do was to take photos of Sentosa, walk the bridge etc. It’s okay, at least I enjoyed myself with the people I love. When the sun set, we packed our belongings and went back to vivo for dinner. Bentay, Ona, Jon and I took Benson’s car back. After dinner, some suggested to watch Soccer. Really wished that I could go but my mum objected. It is okay, my spirit was with them.

Really hope I can go back Sentosa again, not for any events or activities but for R&R.

Greeted by the gentle sun,with the tears of joy coming down from the Heaven.
The never-ceasing waves crashed against the rocks, giving the melody for the song of the ocean.
The short bursts of laughter, from the children playing along the beach.
Walking bare-footed on the beach, the sands filled the gaps between my toes.
Drawing lines on the sand, with the flip-flops we wore.
Digging in the sands with bare hands,to bury the paper underneath.
Taking the slippers off, to build our own slipper castles.
A wonderful day we had, was the loveliest gift from God.

[Version9.2] Christmas Star

Yes, Christmas is coming and I’ve remodified the previous christmas-themed blog designs for this year’s. Last year, I came out with two versions of christmas blog design. The first version was Santa Goes HoHoHo! and the second one was Christmas is coming.

And now for this year’s design, it is called “Christmas Star“.

If you compare this design with the previous ones, I’m still using the same background picture with the hills and mountains.

Let me explain why is it called Christmas Star. Do you know what is true meaning behind Christmas? Have you wonder why we have Christmas day every year?

Christmas is an annual holiday celebrated on December 25 that commemorates the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. According to the bible, Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem- in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. I wanted to design something like a manger  but it looks like a house instead

The Star of Bethlehem, also called the Christmas Star, is a star that revealed the birth of Jesus to wise men, and led them to Bethlehem. The sparkles above the chimney of the house represent the star and the men walking towards the house represent the wise men.

Then, I inserted a box for my tweets and placed a christmas hat icon on the box.

Spacious but weird

On Tuesday (27 October), headed down to Cathay to meet my shepherd for facial. It just happened that we got the complimentary facial from the same facial shop. We supposed to do our facial at 330pm but my shepherd was late. So waited for her till 5pm and went facial together.

For the 1.5 hours waiting time, I sat on the cushy sofa at level 5, either preparing my P&W or looking out the window stone-ING. The waiting time caused me to go bored, bored-er, bored-est. Then, finally my shepherd came and we went to do our facial.

My first impression of this facial shop was boo boo (I’m not going to name it). First, the place looks very spacious and big but it gives me an “empty” feeling. They have the furniture and stuff but the feeling is weird. And  I thought the interior design of the shop kinda weird too. Like out of nowhere, there’s this pillar wrapped with gold silky cloth?!  Second, behind the reception, there was this big painting on the wall of a girl with this eerie look riding an unicorn. It seems like the girl is staring at me. Third, the beauty therapists there do not look like one. They did not present themselves well. Not only that, I think their service was not good? Cause when I came alone at 330pm to check with them if there’s any later time slots for my shepherd and I,. They took donkey years to get back to me, like 15 minutes to get back to me whether I can have the facial at a later time (when there was not many customers there for them to attend to). In the end, I had to walk up to them to ask again.

Alright, after facial, we faster ran to take the MRT to meet Benson and caixuan to go to Ryan’s house for cg. Fourth time leading worship, and the first time to lead 2 praise songs and 2 worship songs. hiong ar~~

[Version8.2] The Sheepish Sheep

Yeah. Finally I’m done with my blog template. It is a completely revamped one as I started everything from scratch. It took me 5 days to do the design, solving technical problems etc. It was a terrible experience staring at the codes for the entire day till night and could not figure out what are the problems.

Actually, I should have finished designing on the second day. Everything was okay when I use firefox to view. But once I switched to Internet Explorer, the frames started to go haywire. That’s why I redo the entire design again and try to solve the problem. CSS stylesheet works different in internet explorer and firefox. I need to modify the codes such a way that IE and FF will work nicely for both. Luckily being a full-time web designer isnt what I want as I know that designing can be my passion, but not something to earn a living.

For the start, I redesigned the banner and used back the sheep image I got for my previous design. And drew 4 boxes. One for the sidebar, one for the entry box, and two of them is placed above the entry box which I place my Recent Tweets and About there. And Ive decided to stop using Plurk.com to update my tweets and used back Twitter. It is much user-friendly that I placed my tweets at the top of the page(instead of sidebar like the previous design). Did you also realize that I’ve changed the short writeup on introduction of myself?

3+ more months to our shepherdy sheepy day and it is on the saturday. We are gonna to celebrate our 1 year anniversary today.

And also, for my future posts, I will have this “Current Mood” thingy at the end of the post. I’ve designed different emotions of the sheep that I can use to describe my mood of the day. There are a total of 17 sheepy emotions.

[Web Design8] Princess Ning’s blog

Princess Ning loves pink, loves Winnie The Pooh. This is the how I get the concept of the blog.

This is my second blogskin design I did after my exam ORD. The first one was for Maurise’s beauty blog, and now it’s ShuNing’s blog. I think she mentioned to me to help her design her blog after she saw the design I made for Alex. But I didnt have time to do it for her.

I spent the whole morning, sourced for nice pooh picture and got 3 of them.

This is where I get the bees, butterfly and honey pot.

This is where I get for the small pooh bear at the “here she writes”.

And this is the big pool bear and it’s taken from Sabaimitiaz.

And the balloons that small pooh were holding on is a picture from deviantart.

Basically, I created the background and layout of the blog, and then insert the css and html codes to the blogskin. Take a look at the animation for the steps I took in designing the background.

1. I created a gradient background of light pink, light purple and white.
2. The boxes for the blogger introduction, sidebar and entry column.
3. Added glittery stars to the border of the blogger introduction box.
4. Added the big winnie picture.
5. Added the word “Princess Ning” and “Navigation”.
6. Added in picture of the honey pot, bees coming out of the pot, butterfly.
7. Added the word “Here she writes” and placed a small winnie at the top left hand side of the entry box.
8. Then, the balloons for winnie.

And I hope she will like this surprise I’ve prepared for her. Muacks this sister lotz!!

[Web Design7] Hearts Beauty

Within a few hours, I managed to finish designing blogskin for Maurise’s beauty blog. For this blogskin, I played around the colors of yellow and pink. Yellow is Maurise’s favourite color and Pink is a “hot” color for all girls. First, I started to design the banner of the blog. I went deviantart.com and search on “fashion anime girl”. After browsing through the photos, I found out that is nice and suits the theme of the beauty blog.

This is an image taken from Bam_Bam_2006 from deviantart. Using photoshop, I use the Magic Wand tool and extracted out the lady and pasted in a new file for the banner. Set gradient of the background as pale yellow and orange, and added in some textures and some effects.

And tadang..

[Web Design5.2] SIMbiosis

I spent 4.5 hours on this masterpiece. 

Changed everything, the layout, the html codes, recategorise all the blog entries to the correct categories. Patching up the patches of family photos was disastrous. It took me a lot of time to gather pictures and cropped them to the correct position. I like the color and the texture of this blogskin.

Finally, I’m done with the blogskin for Alex. Haha.. promised him for sometime le but didnt manage to start it. So, from morning till now, I forced myself to squeeze out sometime to start plan for his blog design. A few days ago, I started to draw shapes and sizes of different potatoes. It will be the “mascot” for the blog. Like my simplyjas.com blog, I chose sheep as my mascot. So, his blog will be potato.

So, this is the sketch of the potatoes in my sketchbook.
 

 
I also asked my bro to help me draw his impression of potato. In the end, I decided to use his as the banner for the blog, and used photoshop to do my colouring.  

Then as usual, I created the blogskin and input all the colour scheme. This is a very simply design because I dont think guys like too much things on their blog? (from my past experience with my brother’s blogskins [2])

And I used two of my potato designs for the sidebar.

       

And just now, shu ning was jealous after seeing the design. She asked me to do for her too. Haha.. Ok lar.. =)
