Chilli Padi Nonya Cafe

Yesterday (23 Dec 09) evening, received a phone call and headed down to bugis. We had a gathering with the ex-colleagues. Its been a long time.. The last time we met was at Timbre, drinking and chilling. Thank Eddy for organising the gathering. There were Lynn, JiaYi, Sheryl, Eddy, AhHongJieJie, Mei, Cheryl, Thomas and Sheeren.

We had our dinner at Chilli Padi Nonya cafe. It’s located at North Bridge Road. It is actually a Peranakan buffet style. One person will only need to pay $17.24 and you can enjoy a great variety of food. It’s really worth it.

We started our dinner at 730pm and left around 10pm when we were ‘chased’ out of the cafe as it was closing for the day. We chatted (gossiped) a lot. Took some photos using eddy’s samsung camera. Everyone was facinated by the functions of the camera. Got beauty mode (which will capture your photo with flawless face), smile detection mode(the camera will automatically snap your picture once you smile), self portrait mode(you can take your own picture as there’s a screen beside the lens, and you can see your own face). Cool right? It’s 12.2 megapixel and touchscreen. It’s damn cool please.

A Jay Chou’s day – 22 December 2009

It’s been two years.. The last time Jay came to Singapore was on his birthday for his world tour concert. A few years back when Jay came to Singapore for the movie – Initial D, I “stalked” for him from Changi Airport. Picnic-ED outside the gates to wait for him, lined in a queue under the rain for hours. *SCREAM* As I need to work, I didnt meet the rest at the arrival hall. Jay took the morning flight from msia to Singapore. Liwei and Jordan were there to welcome Jay.

In the afternoon, Jay had press conference, then interview with 933fm radio, then to Plaza Singapura. Knowing that there will be a lot of people at PS, I went straight to GV Vivocity. I was at home after my work, wishing to complete my assignment first . But I just couldn’t sit still to complete my assignment. Too excited already. So in the end, I got dressed up and headed to GV Vivo.

When I reached, joined Esther and her sis, and Eileen. Wendy,Liwei and Jordan were at other side. There were a lot of people when I reached at 7pm. But more started to stream in after their work. I’m glad that I made the right decision to my high heels. I was taller than others and jad better view. Jay was supposed to reach PS at 7pm but he reached only at 730pm. Though I wasn’t there at PS, I was constantly being updated by jay’s whereabouts.

Then, around 8 plus, the 933 DJs,ZhiYong and JiaHui came and warmed us up. They were distributing the movie fan and we “fought” for it, snatched for it. Everyone was snatching like crazy. Around 845pm, Jay finally came, together with Lin Zhi Ling and the director. My view got blocked when everyone was pushing, squeezing, screaming, and taking photos. There were two stages- one at level two,at the ticketing counter, and the other one was at level three. After Jay and the crew finished their speech, they went up to level 3. It was then all of us started to run up the escalator. There were also people running up the escalator that’s going the opposite direction.. Ultimate OMG!

After the whole event, we took photos. Collin came and managed to find us in the midst of the chaotic situation. After that, all of us chilled out at Burger King and started to catch up. And not sure why Collin has super duper good memory to recall what we did many years ago (which I have no idea that it happened before).

After that, we left around 1030+ pm, super nice weather and there was a lot of stars there was belt of Orion too!!

22 December 2009 was fabulous cause of great event, fabulous gang and starry starry night.. I can’t wait for feb to come. Jay’s album gonna be out. And… June for his concert!! Should I start saving up and go Taiwan for his concert? :p

Day 14,15 and 16 with the kids

21 December 2009 (Monday)
Day 14 at work (330-530pm)
After psychology lesson, went back home for lunch. Had a quick nap and then went to work. When I reached my childcare centre, the K1 and K2 kids were still having their teabreak. They had muffins which were left over from the Christmas party on Saturday. I was told to take care of the K2 kids. There were 9 of them. So taught them grammar using ‘she, he, you, I’ with ‘is, are, am’. After that, had animal guessing game. I drew some pictures and they are suppose to guess n raise up the hands to tell me what I was drawing. After teaching, gave them toys to play. My overall experience with the K2 was tiring. They are very loud and active. When I called them to answer my questions one by one, they shouted the answer together.

After work, went down for unit prayer meet.

22 December 2009 (Tuesday)
Day 15 at work (830-130pm)
When I reached my childcare centre, Chen Xiu, my two year old boy was crying. When he saw me, he came and held my hands. Instead of going to his class, he joined me with the K2 students to learn some grammar. After K2 class, I was told to teach the K3. So taught them NUMBERS, spelling and reading the time from the clock. Oh ya., the kids also got to make their own dumplings. After teaching the K3, I went back to my 2 years old kids. Miss them man… Then patted them to sleep. Monique very cute. She patted her friends to sleep. After ensuring everyone is sleeping, I left.
Went back home to have lunch. Watched some Taiwan dramas and then slept for awhile and went to vivocity to welcome Jay Chou.

23 December 2009 (Wednesday)
Day 16 at work (830-1030am)
Wah.. a bit tired in the morning cause I had a long night yesterday chasing Jay Chou. Today, I taught the K2 class. Though it’s my second time teaching them, I still have problems memorizing their names. I know they are Geraldine, CuiXia, Nigel, Nathan, Yue Ling… I’m still trying to remember my names. I think I’m gonna have sore throat soon.. I keep scolding them etc. wah. really very tiring. Then today. I taught them past tense “was” and “were”. Told them to form sentences.Then taught them to read the time. When I want to leave, they were like “huh? Why so fast?” haha.. They told me to stay on but I didn’t as I need to catch up with my studies since there’s no class today.

On my way out, a K3 boy saw me. He asked why am i leaving so early. So I asked him “you miss me is it?” Then he became shy and his friend beside him teased him. LOLx!!

Day 12 and 13 with the kids

16 December 2009 (Wednesday)
Day 12 at work (830-1030am)

Double Happiness at work! Tell you in a bit. Woke up at 745am getting ready to go for work. Went to my playgroup class. There were four-five of them as the rest of the kids were learning the dance steps for the xmas party this saturday. So, I taught the rest “Fruits”. Then, drew the fruits on the whiteboard, asked the kids to choose their favorite fruits and wrote their name beside it. Remember Isaiah, the little boy I mentioned on my previous post? I think he got a good memory to remember me. haha.. He was running around the centre to look for me. Then i told him “Isaiah, are you a good boy? good boy doesnt run around and good boy goes to his class. you good boy right? Go to your class okay?” Then he nodded his head and ran back to his class. After some time, he came back crying and wanted me to hug him. So I asked him what happened. He said his teacher doesnt like him. So i told him “Isaiah, why teacher angry with you? you naughty right? thats why teacher dont like you”. Then he nodded his head. Haha..then i told him “you must be a good boy okay? listen to your teacher”. Then he ran back.

Then, I continued to teach my playgroup class about Fruits. This k2 boy came and told me “Teacher Jassy, you look very pretty today.” haha. i was like “huh? where got pretty? I dressed the same way I usually do”. So I asked him how come I’m pretty. Then he pointed to my colourful necklace. “There..your beads necklace”. Happy man.

Then after that, another k1 girl came to me. Without saying anything, Myra passed me this pebble. I asked her “Is this for me? Why you give me?”. She said that she picked this up for me the previous day at the beach. OMG!! SHE IS SUPER SWEET CAN?! This is because I only brought her class out twice to the outdoors. Didnt teach her anything at all and yet she gave me a pebble. I took a closer look.. The pebble has a heart shape. OMG!! My heart melted. Though people may think that it is a pebble. To me, it’s more than a pebble. It’s pebble filled with love from a student to her teacher.

After work, went school. After that, went Bugis to practise PnW. Then met the rest at Bugis Junction. Frankly speaking, I’m super not in a good mood. Or can I say I was pissed? Had shepherding before that, then now unit. Oh gosh, I think I really very bad-tempered nowadays, that I wasnt very loving towards people in my caregroup. Last week one, then now another more.

After cg, went back home with Shawn.

17 December 2009 (Thursday)

I woke up after a bad dream. It’s really very real. So I msged to that person I dreamed of and told him what happened in the dream. OMG! It’s really real especially I just had my cg the night before. My frustration in real life went into my dreams.

After class, daddy came to my sch and we went to Westmall to recontract our phone plans. Waited for donkey years for my queue number to flash on the monitor. After the long waiting, I finally got my IPHONE 3GS 32Gb!! Iphone plus screen protector plus handphone pouch cost me $158!! Traded-in my Sony Ericsson K850i. Then had dinner with daddy at Koufu before heading back home.

Anyway, did I mention that my house now is in a mess? We are trying to clear some junks from the storeroom. While my family members are trying to clear the storeroom, I’m actually took in what they discarded. Can say that I’m sentimental cos some things cannot be thrown away. They were part of my memories.

Not only my house is in a mess, i’m in a mess too. I dont want bad news to keep coming my way. two bad news came back to back. Through your eyes, I know that you are lying to me. You dont even dare to look at me straight to them me. how long do you want to bluff me? how many lies you want to tell?

I need nobody. leave me alone.

18 December 2009 (Friday)
Day 13 at work (1530-1730pm)

Just came back from work. I got a slice of cake from the birthday girl, Ericia. She is four years old this year. And also I got to know that two of my colleagues are 22 years old. Today took the K2 class. Told them stories like little mermaid and little red riding hood. When I told them I want to tell stories, they were disappointed. Haha.. All they want is to play. Then after that, played with them. And the kids are very cute. They fought just to hold hands with me. Interesting right? Playing with kids is always enjoyable.

Day 10 & 11 with the kids

14 December 2009 (Monday)
Day 10 at work (330-545pm)

As usual, I got my psychology lesson in the morning. I was super tired and having my usual blues. While walking to the station, I saw the k2 girl who cried last friday. She was walking with her maid and she could recognise me! Initially she could not recognise me because I looked different from my usual work attire/style. But then, she realized it was me and started to smile and wave good bye to me. Her smile just shoo my blues away! After my psychology class, went back home for lunch before going to work.

When I reached my childcare centre, some k1 and k2 kids were still having their high tea. When they saw me, they were very excited and kept greeting me. So sweet.. They brightened my mood the very beginning. The last time I saw my two years old kids were 5 days ago. Damn long right? It’s because last friday I was unable to join their class. I was excited to see them.

When Monique saw me, she ran towards me and hugged me. Then, I saw a very big bruise on her left cheek. My heart really aches when I saw it. So I asked her what happened, she told me “baby bite me”. Oh gosh.. my mood dropped again when I saw another of my kids got bruise on her face too. At that point of time, I feel like crying. But I had to continue to teach them. Taught them about facial expressions and emotions – happy, sad, worried, angry, lost. Then played toys with them. After a while, some kids were called to the music room. So I played with the rest of the kids outside. All the teachers was in the music room learning the dance steps for the upcoming christmas party. The childcare centre became a little bit out of hand(HAVOC!) as I was the only teacher outside, taking care of kids from the playgroup, nursery, k1 and k2. But it also gave me a chance to know other kids from the different group. And now, they know my name and keep calling me.

15 December 2009 (Tuesday)
Day 11 at work (830-130pm)
When I reached the childcare centre, the kids (from all groups) were practising the dance steps for the upcoming christmas party. Some kids started to stream in to the childcare centre. For kids from playgroup and nursery, I got to bring them over to the shelves to put their bags down.

Think I mentioned before that on my first day of work about a little boy who hugged me hard when his teacher wanted to bring him to the class and that he hugged me tight tight? Yes, I got to interact with this boy again. His name is Isaiah.  So when Isaiah came in today, I brought Isaiah to the shelves to put his bag down and brought him to the music room. When I wanted to walk away, he followed me. So I told him to stay in the room and learn the dance steps. He started to grab my hands and forbid me to go away. Haha..

Normally if I’m working in the morning, I will need to bring my 2 yr old kids to playground. But today, I was told to help in the nursery class. ISAIAH IS IN THE CLASS TOO!! He was soo happy to see me. Then played with him and the other kids. The difference between this nursery group and with my playgroup kids is that kids of the nursery group are more mischievous, violent and noisy. and my dear Isaiah kept looking for me- crying. Had to hug him, pat him.

I prefer my playgroup kids – cuter, adorable and much obedient. Then something big happened to one of the boys. His classmates bite his face. OMG!! See? This is what I mean by mischievous. Poor boy got really big bruise mark on his face.

Helped the kids blow-dry their face after their shower, tied pretty girls’ hair. Lunch time and I was still attached to the nursery group. Isaiah reserved a seat for me. Haha.. cute right?

After lunch, was nap time. Patted Isaiah to sleep and I went back to my playgroup to check out my kids. Monique was crying very hard. She ran towards me when she saw me. Used quite some time to calm her down and patted her to sleep.

Alrightx, tml (woops, i mean later..), I’m gonna see them again. :excited: I’m not looking forward to the long day (will be awake from 7am to 11plus) but am looking forward to see the kids!

Happy birthday LBD!

121209 was a special day for a special someone. It’s my LBD – Ms Claris Tan turning to 21! (Dear, everything I want to say is in the sms already. Muacks you a thousand)Last saturday after service, went to meet up with the replicas Xx and Pok at Taka. Then we headed down to Downtown East. When we reached there, paparazzi was there too. Camera flash lights here and there. Can you imagine you’ve got three DSLR cameras focusing on you?

Leong, Tze Kiat and Rubin then came and joined us. Joked a lot. When you have jokers around you, there’s no way you can control your laughter. The night was beautiful with plentiful of stars. If only I have no wedding lunch on the next time, I would have stayed overnight at the chalet. Took the train back home. When I reached my stop, I realised that my vision was blurred and got some problem in walking back home. Not sure what happened but started to see stars.

The next day, 13 december was my sec sch friend – Yifong’s wedding. waited for zhanming to come and fetch me. Saw some old friends and teachers. Guess what? The official photographer of the wedding was my sec sch teacher. He was the one who took my photo when I was sec2 at Istana while I was doing my SJAB duties. He was the one who printed out my photo and started to show the teachers. OMG!! and now, that A4-sized photo is on display on my kitchen’s wall. If you’ve been to my house, you should have seen that. My mum lar..wants to display it in the kitchen. Can you imagine how pai seh am I when my friends or my brothers’ friends come to my house and see the photo? Gosh, and I’m gonna feel ashamed again on 25 dec when my brother’s friends are coming. After the wedding lunch, took the car back. Luckily got car cos was quite tired already.

Anyway, I’ve already made up my mind and made a choice on certain issues. I sought advice from my friends on issues that I’m unable to make decision. So my friends that I should draw lot.

Day 8 & 9 with the kids

On 8 December after my work, went back home for lunch and waited for MJ to come. it’s been a long time.. she came to my house to learn html codes. frankly speaking, I’m not  very good in teaching people about html codes as I self-learn them and not good at explaining why certain things work this way.

9 December 2009 (Wednesday)
Day 8 at work (730-1100am)

Normally if I got class on that day, I will only need to work for two hours. Every wednesday, I will have class in the afternoon and so I will need to work from 830-1030am. But I got to work from 730-1100am due to manpower shortage. In the morning when I reached the childcare centre, I welcomed the kids, facilitated them in their quiet time reading. Then, brought them to wash their hands before having their breakfast. For breakfast, they had bread with strawberry jam. Then, brought my 2 yr old kids to their classroom. Taught them to sing english songs and then brought them out to the playground. There were 8 kids and 2 teachers(including me). Frankly speaking, it’s very tiring to bring 2 yr old kids to the playground. you must be very very careful when they climb up the kind of stairs that’s made of ropes. Then walked around the neighbourhood before sending back to the centre.

By right after bringing the 2 yrs old kids back from outdoor, I will need to bring the K1 students to go outdoor. But since there was only one teacher in the playgroup class, I stayed with them all the way and helped until 11am.

Then, after work, rushed back home to pack my bag etc and ran for my class. Luckily I was just right on time. After class, got shepherding, then went to Wilkie Edge’s Starbucks to do my marketing mindmaps while waiting for the rest of the cg members to come. Had our dinner together and then went back home.

10 December 2009 (Thursday)
It was a day when they started to fight. you know who I’m referring to? We led, they followed. Although the price of the Iphone itself will not drop, I’m looking forward to the kinds of phone plans they are giving. Now, Singtel is giving the 12GB broadband for the cheapest iFlexi ones.

And do u know what happened in the morning? I was going to my next lesson at 12pm after the one in the morning. After putting my bag in the lecture room, I took out my wallet and.. SHIT! Where’s my handphone?!!? Ran back to the previous lecture room and it was lying ON THE LECTURE TABLE!!! It’s not underneath the table but ON THE TABLE!! Luckily I realised it fast. If not, my phone will be gone for good. Losing a phone just like that aint a good reason to get a new one. My current phone is worth $100 okay? Wow.. really thank God that I found my phone.

11 December 2009 (Friday)
Day 9 at work (330-530pm)

It’s a super long day for me. Had class in the morning from 830-1130am. Then came home to have lunch. Took a nap until 3pm to get ready for work. Today, I was told to take care of the K2 kids. They had their high tea – waffles and herbal drink. I got a cup of herbal drink from the auntie too! K2 kids are much more independent and you will understand what they are talking about (unlike baby talk ). Read Three Little Pigs to them, then played toys, puzzles with them. When my 2 yr old kids saw me, they were very excited and followed me, especially Monique, Charlene and Zhi Ling…HAHA..Cute right? but sadly, I cant join them. Gosh, I miss them okay?! Have not been seeing them for one day. There’s this k2 girl kept crying when her maid came as she didnt want to go home. It’s kinda funny. My 2 yr old kids always cry to want to go home. But k2 kids cry because they dont want to go home.

After work, went back home again, packed my bag and went to school for my marketing makeup lesson. 7-10pm in school is tormenting! While people have their TGIF evening, I was trapped in school for a three hours lecture! Counted down to 10pm and ran out of the lecture room with my friend. Then went back home.. 5 stars in the sky.

Day 7 with the kids

I mentioned that I only slept for 4 hours on sunday? So yesterday, I wanted to sleep for 1 hour and then wake up to complete my mindmaps. In the end, when my alarm rang after one hour, I switched off the alarm and set to 730am. So in total, I slept for ten hours.

Today I started work at 8am. When I reached the childcare centre, I was in charge of the kids who were having their breakfast, ensuring that they finish their food. Their breakfast was white bread with strawberry jam spread and a cup of milk. Then, went to my class(2 yr old kids). Brought them out to the playground. Usually, there are three teachers around in this class but today we had 2(including me). While waiting for the kids to wear their shoes, there’s this little boy who kept crying. When I hugged him, he started to stand on my leg. He kept saying “mei shi de..mei shi de..”(no problem) He had a bad experience with the doctor that’s why he is super sticky to me, hugging me and keep saying “mei shi de”. After the outdoor activities, we went back to the centre for wash-up. Story telling, games etc. Today, the kids were very naughty. The usual good ones like Chen Xiu, Monique went out of control. So, the whole class was very chaotic especially we have new kid in the midst. Then lunch time, fed the kids, playing “catching” with them as they were running around and not sitting on the chair for their meals. After lunch, was their nap time. The kids didnt want to sleep. Took quite an effort to persuade them to sleep, pat them to sleep. Then Monique very cute. When she saw me patting the rest of the kids, she asked me to lie down as she wants to pat me to sleep. Cute right? She somehow “pushed” me down to the mattress to sleep, but i didnt. So, she went around to pat her classmates. Then around 1pm when I need to leave, Monique cried and pulled me back. *Awwwh*

Day 6 with the kids

Today was a tiring day. Slept at 3am in the morning after finishing the things that I need to do and woke up at 7am. Pulled myself up from the bed and get ready for psychology class. Actually, when my lecturer was teaching, I was dreaming away..dozing off to sleep. Then suddenly, the lecturer stood in front of me and asked me a question. OMG!! I couldnt answer cause I was listening. Luckily a guy behind me helped me answer. :phew:

After lesson, went back home for lunch and get ready for work. When I reached the childcare centre, the kids were waiting for me. When Chen Xiu saw me, he kept calling me “Teacher Jassy, Teacher Jassy”. Then Monique came to me and sat beside me. So, i took some books and taught them numbers and animals. 2 years old kids are easily distracted. you cannot keep teaching the same time as they will get bored. So after teaching them numbers and animals, I took them to the music room. On the player and taught them songs such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Ten Little Indian, Jingle Bells, Happy Birthday. Then, taught them to listen to rhythm. They will need to listen to the beat and walk according to the pace. After the short music lesson, played toys and colors with them.

Monique used lego blocks and made robots and train for me. When I told the kids to take their water bottle to drink, Zhi Ling and Monique started to snatch my water bottle. Both of them wanted to pass me my water bottle. After some time, Monique mistaken my water bottle as hers. (but it was very obvious to see which water bottle is mine) She keep holding on to my water bottle, does not want to give it back to me. Time flies kinda fast and two hours gone. Hugged all my 2yearsold kids, hi-5 to the k1 kids who know me. Then, went home after that.

I’m now damn tired. But I want to complete my mindmap for today’s lesson. Hopefully tonight I can finish the mindmap and doing some maths questions so that I can concentrate on POA tml.
