Good bye Emily.

By looking at the title of this entry, you should have guessed that it’s something saddening. Today is my fellow colleague, Emily’s last day in the company. She has been a very nice colleague, a faithful friend to me.

My first impression

She is the first person I know, carrying the most sincere heart. You can feel her sincerity out from her heart. If she do not like you, she will not pretend that she likes you. You can feel that she is very caring, kind and helpful. I seldom have friends like her, who is recycle-concerned and truthful to friends. She does voluntary work and help the less-fortunate. She may be simple looking, but her inner beauty has surpassed her.

At work

Knowing that I have no accounting background, she is patient to me and guided me whenever I needed help. Whenever I have any queries, she will not fail to help me and do not find me irritating. We shared sweet and bitter times at work together with Nicole. I remember when I first joined in, we just implemented a new system and everything was not stabilised. That was the toughest time for three of us. We even stayed up during the weekends, INCLUDING SUNDAYS to clear up everything that we need to do to get everything on track. We went through the toughest times together. Only three of us understand the hardships we’ve been through.

Outside work

She encouraged and re-assured me when I was lost. She will forward me some encouraging emails.

Sad day at work

Today when I saw the farewell email she sent out, I broke down. Luckily my colleagues sitting around me were out to lunch. Staring at the computer screen, I cried.. silently and hoping that no one will notice me. But suddenly Sheryl came in and I was totally lost. Amy sensed that something was wrong and came over to my table and consoled me. Really thank her a lot. Not sure if she will be seeing this.

I know reunion and parting is part and parcel of life (I’ve learned it during my secondary school time). It does not mean that we will never see each other again. What I am sad is that all the “soldiers” who went “battle” with me have left me. First was Nicole, then now Emily. We’ve worked so hard, come this far.. and I’m the only one who is staying on..
