Why do all good things come to an end?
Tomorrow will be my last day at work. I have been working in this company for more than 6 months, since 4 Jan 2008. Time really flies and i will need to go back to school real soon. Ya..next week… studying what I want to be in the future. During my stay in this company, i really learned a lot. There are some people I need to thank.
First, is my cousin Nicole who recommended me this job. I didnt expect myself to be in the working class that fast. End of 2007, I applied for relief teaching on MOE website. By the end of the year, I did not receive any calls from the schools, so I thought the chance of being a relief teacher is slim. So, i started to ask around my friends, my relatives. I remember on 31st December 2007, when I was at my friend’s house counting down to the new year, my cousin asked me if i want to help her in her finance department. So i agreed and an interview was arranged.
James - A few days before the interview, I typed out my resume and emailed to my cousin. Then I went to the company website to look for the photo of the MD, who will be interviewing me. Need to get myself prepared before the interview. I started to “role-play” how the interview will be like and think of the questions that will be asked. The day for interview, I was super nervous. It was my first formal interview, compared to what I went through in the past. The interview went unexpectedly smooth. James wasnt as stern as what I thought and the interview wasnt as scary as what I thought. I enjoyed the interview and James was friendly. I thought I will screw up. Thank James for letting me to be a part of this family.
Dawn - The next day after the interview was my first day at work. I got to learn the software PROAD and basically do data entry for the first week. The first colleague I got to know was Dawn. She sat opposite me. Our conversation started out when she asked me if I’ve been to the pantry. So she showed me around. Besides work, Dawn encouraged me during my sad days, and assured me that everything will be okay.
Emily - The second person I know is my fellow colleague, Emily. Knowing that I have no accounting background, she is patient to me and guided me whenever I needed help. Whenever I have any queries, she will not fail to help me and do not find me irritating. We shared sweet and bitter times at work together with Nicole. I remember when I first joined in, we just implemented a new system and everything was not stabilised. That was the toughest time for three of us. We even stayed up during the weekends, INCLUDING SUNDAYS to clear up everything that we need to do to get everything on track. We went through the toughest times together. Jo - The first time I talked to Jo was when she called me to scan her some documents. HAHA…I love to remember all this small little things. Really thank Jo for her help during my stay here and especially when Nicole was not around. That time, there wasnt anyone for me to turn to when I’m the only person left in my department. So I called Jo for help and she was there to help me. Thanks for all her support to our finance department. It’s really tough for her. Jia Yi, Phyllis, Lynn & Sheryl - The next few people I got to know were the admin girls-Jia Yi, Phyllis, Lynn and Sheryl. They treat me like a little girl and guided me a lot. They are the next closest colleagues and I shared my problems with them. They helped me change my perception, and look at things in a broader, better and positive way. I’m always feel better after sharing my problems with them.
Agnes - We only got to talk to each other on the phone end May =x when I called to ask her about invoicing. We managed to see each other during our party. It was our first time, and last time seeing each other. Thanks for consolidating the supplier invoices and email me to make payment. Thanks for helping me do up the cheques occasionally. She must be very busy helping the finance team and do her own stuff.
Neel - Before Agnes join, Neel was the one sending us the supplier invoices to make payment. It was really great working with both Neel and Agnes.
Chris - I didnt expect myself working until now. Intially, I planned to stop work end of June and will not have chance to see Chris again. The first time we met was at RedDot Brewhouse. Although he’s with us not long, I still wanna thank him for his support to the finance team.
Though I will be returning to my company next week as a part timer, the feeling will be different. I’m no longer working 5 days per week.. I’m already used to taking the mrt to work, sitting the whole day to work. Soon, I will be carrying thick books, big files, moving around from one lecture room to another. Haix.. have to switch to the “schooling” mood soon.

This few days, I have been clearing the work pending for me to do as fast as possible, before I leave. At least, I need to make sure that I’ve completed my task before leaving. I will definitely miss all my nice colleagues here. and I definitely will not miss the time I need to come back office on Sundays, working 12 hours. =x I will not miss the time I need to work for two company..one in the morning, another at night..
14 February 2008 - Happy Colleagues’ Day
There will be a lot of things for me to do after I stop work. I’ll be tidying up my room, photoshop-ING, bloggING, shoppING, karaoke-ING, recordING..

Loves shopping and visit the karaoke lounge most often. I can be shy when in a unfamiliar situation and with strangers. But once I'm "warmed-up", I can be more approachable and spontaneous in activities.
