“Last” Day of work

4 April 2008 was my “last” day of work as I started working on 4 January 2008. The 3 months of my probation ended on the day. It’s time to do some reflection and sum up what I’ve achieved and learned during this 3 months.

Preparation for the Interview

  1. As my cousin is working in the company, she emailed me the job scope of my job. From there, I got to know the company name and did a research of it. On the company website, I got to see the photo of the Managing Director (the one will be interviewing me). To overcome my “enemy”(the interview), I need to know more about my “enemy”, be prepared so that I will not be afraid for the interview, will not be afraid when i see my MD.
  2. Face in front of the mirror and communicate like the way I should during an interview. Think of possible questions they will ask and think of the best answer to give.

The Culture Shock

  1. Using tissue packet, umbrella, newspaper to “book” your seats. First, I find this act very disgusting. Everyone has this “kiasu”(afraid to lose) attitude. Wherever you go for lunch, you will see people using tissue packets to book their seats. Soon, I was “influenced” and follow what others do. ‘Cos if you dont do this, you will never get your seat.

The finance procedures in the company

  1. I have no accounting background but I was willing to learn. Started learning little things like keying in supplier invoices. From processing supplier invoices, to supplier invoices approval, to purchase payments. I managed to learn more things that I expected as there were a lot of things to do, and I’ll need to help to cover.

Through work, I gained a lot of exposure and, of course, got chance to eat nice food.

And I started this day called the Happy Colleagues Day.
