Will you be my punching bag?

I thought I can manage it..I thought I can work for Company G in the morning, and then Company S at night…After almost one month of torture, I really cannot take it. I thought I can be a super woman..I thought I can handle everything perfectly.. But I cant.

I work in Company G as finance administrator. Company S is jointly founded by KS and his friend, and I was given this offer to be Sales Manager. Recently, KS gave me a handover, and I have to take over the roles of answering billing enquiries, technical support etc.

These few days in Company G were a headache for me. The software we are using is not helpful. Yesterday was a really hard time “BATTLING” with it. Sometimes, the software is out to bully me , giving me a hard time. This week, I’ve been staying up late to complete the work.

Back home, in my “office”, I have to check my inbox (which I can receive 21 new emails in one day), reply to clients, help them set up their account. In addition to that, the emailing system is really not good. Between different clients, we have the same title of the email. When there’s alot of email, everything goes out of control.

Today, I received a client’s email asking for refund due to our “slow” reply.

First of all, I can only reply at night, cause I only come back from work at night. In addition, these few days I’ve been staying until very late in Company G to hurry some stuff. And obviously, I cant reply in the morning/afternoon since that time I’m working for Company G(and i dont think i have to time to do such things too).

Let me describe the scenerio before anyone starts pointing fingers who should be blamed.

This client is sooo desperate until he sent me tons of emails within a day. Take a look at the timing: He sent his order form on 28th, then I emailed to him to confirm that we have receive his order form and asked him to made payment. So, he made payment at 29th. Then I found out that I still cant set up his account for him because the details in the order form he sent to me were mismatched. So immediately I emailed him back to confirm his order again. So today, (30th) he replied and confirmed his details in the order form and set up his account asap. This email was sent at 10:04AM. Then he sent again the same time 10:04AM. Then at 11:50AM, he sent a paypal dispute asking for refund because of so-called slow response. So is a 1hour and 44 minutes delay called a slow response? If you tell me slow response in sms, I still can agree. But email??

Everyday, this is my routine. Today and yesterday had agrument with my parents. They scolded me for switching on the computer once I had my dinner or when I came back home. Cause I know that there will be a lot of emails for me to reply, and I have no time to wait and delay the replying of email. Because of that, I ended up sleeping late. And they nagged at me again. But hey.. I really very busy and vexed enough. Cant they just give me a break, let me do finish my work, and I will go to bed automatically? I know my parents care for me, want me to have a good sleep. But I have the responsibility to finish all my tasks then go to bed. I also likes to have an early sleep cause I’m really a pig.

Arrival of the Heavenly King.

HE arrived in Singapore at 1219pm (flight) with his mum when a lot of fans were already waiting for him at the airport. It wasnt as many people as the last time Jay came to Singapore for his debut movie- Secret. Many fans from other countries came to Singapore specially for Jay. Just like our Jay2u, we’ve sent out “troops” from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Our banners were hung up at the barriers for people to see us, and we were dressed in one of our official fan club t-shirt. Jay2u is a attraction-seeker as many reporters came and interviewed us. You can see one of the video clips here.As this blog entry will be SUPER LONG, I’ve splitted up the blog entry from the main blog page. Making of Pineapple tarts cum a mini family activity

Ah Hong Jie² and I called this day “Pineapple Tarts Day“. In the morning, Mummy and I went to Ah Hong Jie²‘s house. We started to make pineapple tarts at around 12pm. While making the pineapple tarts, I took some photos so as to explain the steps of making pineapple tarts. But I didnt take photos for ALL the steps. So what you will be seeing is photos that I took yesterday and last year. By the way, I got this recipe from 厨房笔记.

Step 1, mix cubes of butter(250g), plain flour(340g), custard powder(20g) and salt(1/2 tsp) together in a mixing bowl.

Step 2, use finger tips and rub butter into flour until it resembles breadcrumbs. Then add egg yolks (20g) and vanilla oil(1/4 tsp) to the mixing bowl.

Step 3, mix the ingredients into a dough.

Step 4, leave aside to rest for 20 mins before shaping. While waiting, you can make use of the time to divide the pineapple filling(10g) into small parts and form into small balls.

Step 5, Form small ball(10g) with the dough and fill a pineapple filling inside and seal up. Apply beaten egg yolk on the surface of the pineapple tarts.


Step 6, And It’s ready to send to the oven.


It was really a mass production of pineapple tarts. In total, we made 8 batches of pineapple tarts (approx 384 tarts). This time round, the making of pineapple tarts was enjoyable unlike last year when I got bored at the end of the 2nd batch. Halfway, I took a short break and sang karaoke. After that, joined back the baking crew.

Haha.. That’s a lot right? Some for our relatives. Some for our own consumption. Then had our dinner only at around 930pm.

A day I do not need to go to work. Thought of treating this day as a resting day. But there are still alot of things to do. Tidied up my room, changed the bedsheets etc. Then, went town for a haircut with mummy. I always go China town for my hair cut, and I really LOVE the goreng pisang(fried banana). I will never give it a miss whenever I come to People Park Centre. Then requested for a wild haircut. A haircut that is completely different from the current one. So, I had 2 layers of fringe. The inner fringe is shorter, covered by a longer fringe from the outside. Then, the hair dresser told me that she’s doing eye lash perming for $30. So, I tried it. After all this, it was already late. Reached home at around 1015pm without having dinner.

Back home, I still have to work -replying clients’ emails, setting up their accounts. Didnt really sleep good that night.

Woke up in the morning to go to work. I wish I can have all the time to sleep. Rest is essential for me. After work, went Watson with Ah Hong Jie² and bought eye lash curler, mascara and make-up remover. Back home, continued the same old routine. Check my hotmail, check my blog, check company’s email, set up client’s account, check forum.

Same old routine. Then had vegetarian lunch at TJPG market. Then, we went to Donut Donut to buy donuts. Then, went to the fruit juice stall. Last week I drank fruit juices that helps maintain good skin complexion. This week I had fruit juice that helps me to maintain good figure. WAHAHA

Same old routine. I can drop down dead at this point of time. But, i just hanged on till the end. Made overseas call for seek help on some software. After work, went to meet the brothers and sisters for bbq. Halfway during the bbq, it started to rain. We took out our umbrella and sheltered ourselves under the umbrella. Covered the food with paper plates. After some time, the rain stopped and we continued our barbeque. Then, we found out that we didnt covered the opened mashmallows. So some of the mashmallows were “soaked” in rain water. BBQ mashmallows. Initially, I wanted to go home at around 830pm because i still need to work the next day and going concert that evening. But ending up, I only managed to reached home at around 11pm. :dead tired: Then, continued to work, checked email, replied clients’ emails. Within a day, I received 21 new emails. :S

..A very memorable day..

Amazingly, I didnt take a day off from work to fetch Jay Chou from airport. Yeah.. He’s coming to Singapore for his world tour concert. Frankly speaking, I wasnt as excited as I was the past few years.

The craziest things I did for Jay
1. Met Jay-Chou.net friends at city link to make Initial D Banner and Placards. (18 June 2005)

2. Went airport and waited for Jay to arrive in Singapore. Then, took cab down to Shaw House and waited till the evening for the Gala Premiere (21 June 2005)

3. Went to his Secret movie Gala Premiere (30 July 2007).

Two Jay Chou fans get maximum fine for trespassing

For that, they were fined the maximum of $1,000 on Tuesday for entering a protected place.

After getting the boarding passes for their flight, they entered the departure hall where a notice states ‘No entry except for passengers with boarding passes and proceeding to their next destination’.

The two telemarketers did not proceed to board their flight, but instead went to meet a celebrity idol who was arriving the same day.

Although the statement of facts in court did not say who the idol was, it was known that Jay Chou flew in from Hong Kong that day for a two-day whirlwind trip to promote his directorial debut ‘Secret’.

The two were later detained by an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer and the police were called.

Sin and Soh admitted that they had bought airline tickets to meet their celebrity idol at the departure hall.

Under the Protected Area and Protected Places Act, they could have been fined and jailed for up to two years each.

[Web Design3] An Immanuel Valentine’s

This time round, I designed a shopping website – An Immanuel Valentine’s. Immanuel means God is with us.

To me, this is a really very challenging project. Not only I started the html coding from scratch, I was also restricted from using the brushes I have in Photoshop. Since this project is for commercial purpose, I can only use the basic brushes Photoshop provides, instead of those nice and fanciful brushes other people have created.

This project was given to me only yesterday (12 Jan 08) and I was supposed to do everything before monday (13 Jan 08). Given the limited tools for designing, I tried to make the banner of the website.

In the end, I only managed to come out with this banner on Saturday.

After creating the heart shape, the design was still plain. So, i went online and used this quote “For yesterday’s memories, today’s love, and tomorrow’s dreams I love you“. Couldnt find who’s the author of this quote.

Then today, I was told that the banner was too plain. I think.. think.. and think.. Finally,I made use of the little flowers Photoshop has and created this:

So, I created the html codes. I was told to make the website looks something like my blog(for your information, it is called Iframe). That means only the middle portion(the blog entries) refreshes on its own, without the whole page to be reloaded. I tried a lot of times to create the codes, but it did not work. The html codes seemed to be broken. After trying like dont-know-how-many-times, I successfully make the links work.

Then, created the little logos.

Then, added the content. Beautify it. Create Google Calendar, Hit Counter etc.

I was happily doing all these things in Geocities and suddenly, I saw the terms and conditions for using the Free web hosting service. No commercial purposes is allowed. So, I had to transfer everything to blogger.

Actually, at the “EARLY BIRD SPECIAL” section, I was thinking of doing a marquee on the products. But in the end, it was changed to the Early bird section. The flowery design at the Early bird section was copied from the banner. I did a color balance- so it changes from a pinky color scheme to a brown color scheme. Personally, I like the arrangement of this flower pattern. I didnt expect myself to come out with this swirling effect of the flowers(See Banner)

My own rating of this design(5 stars MAX):

See the number of hours I’ve devoted on this design.. and this is the reason why mummy is nagging me now.. I think i need a break..

Jay2U Karaoke Session

I’ve been working since one week ago..and I have not recovered from flu. Panadol Cold was totally ineffective for my case. Everyday, I’m looking forward to learn new skills to learn and challenging tasks assigned for me. My workplace is like a training ground for me. I learnt how to use the softwares, use Microsoft Excel. I would make use of the time I have to learn as many things as possible. (..instead of slacking around and wait for the clock to tick to 6..in this case, life would be meaningless right? if want to slack, must as well stay at home to slack …)

As usual, work work work. Ah Hong  Jie², Emily and I went Amara Hotel’s food court to have our lunch. Then, we bought fruit juice near Amara Hotel. This week is the “Nourishing Skin and Complexion” week for me. I ordered fruit juice that helps me maintain good complexion.

Last Friday(04/01/08).. I had.. Orange + Apple + Aloe Vera + Grape
XXX Day.. I had.. Banana + Melon + Honey + Aloe Vera
Friday (11/01/08).. I had… Cabbage + Apple + Lemon + Honey + Aloe Vera

After work, headed straight to City Hall. I organised a karaoke session for Jay2U members. The purpose of this meet-up was to gather people together..to know each other better before Jay’s concert which will be held next week. There were alot of people in City Hall, and it was a bit difficult to find someone you never see before. After a few calls, managed to gather everyone and we went Marina Square for dinner.

Karaoke was FUN! I anticipated people to snatch and hog onto the mic but everyone was too generous and let me have the mic myself. (I  singing. Singing is my passion..my life.. I love singing in the bathroom =X. I can hear my own echo.) But it wasnt my own “concert” after all. So, I shared the mic around with the other members. I wish that one day, I can be a singer at those music cafe like TheArk.

Finally, I have time for retail therapy. Awarded myself for my hard work this week with a pair of shoes. Then, returned home and arranged my shoe rack since CNY is around the corner. I have 13 different pairs of shoes!!  Helped mummy spring-cleaning. Then went to Nihon Mura for dinner. The ambience was great!

Initially, planned to do the web designing on saturday. But was too exhausted. In the morning, I was awakened up by a phone call. It’s about the web designing project. Will blog about the web desiging project in my next blog entry.

Yesterday came back home quite late after work. Only managed to have my dinner at around 10pm, before having a brief meeting with KS about the company handover. He told me to be prepared for many clients’ emails because a special promotion will be launched the next day. Luckily for now, I still can manage this well.
