Starting this session- Health Bits whereby i will give you some tips about keeping healthly, looking good. Today, we will talk about our precious eyes that allow us to see this beautiful world.
Everyday, our eyes are in constant contact with air pollutants, bacteria, dry air, wind, cosmetics and many other factors. These can be the reasons for eye infections. Although we have eye lashes and eyelids to proctect the eye, but they are still not enough.
While washing our face, we also prevent infections of the lid. To prevent infections, gently massage the outside of the eyelids (eye closed) with a hand towel or cotton buds soaked in warm water or a mild baby shampoo daily. This controls bacteria growth and massage the blocked lipids out of the sebaceous glands found in our eyelids.
Girls, please also remember to remove all makeup and clean the eyes as the makeup particles can get into your eyes during the night. Use and move the cotton pad inward, towards your nose. If you rub in other direction, the lower lid can be pulled away slightly, allowing debris to enter.
If you are a sporty person, remember to wear protective eyewear/ sunglasses to protect from eye injuries.
Many girls would like to look good. So they will throw away their glasses and wear contect lens. Problems associated with wearing contact lneses can be easily avoided by:
- Going for a follow up check up after testing new contacts for a week
- Do not sleep with your contact lenses on
- Never use yap water to clean contact lenses. Use saline solution
- Change lens case and replace it every 6 months.
- Remove contacts when your eyes feel irritated
- Wear sunglasses when you are outside in a windy environment or sunny day to protect again UV radiation
For contact wearers, wearing of lenses will reduced the oxygen supply to the cornea, leading to severe irreversible damages. So, if you wear contact lens for a long time, you should take out the contact lens, before any infections occur.

Yesterday, for the whole sunday, i was spring cleaning my room. Wiped windows, and get rid of things that i will no longer use. For only a 3 column shelves, i already cleared 3 bags full of rubbish. Papers and those Polytechincs brochures. Then, came to this 2 boxes of secret stuff. One box contained the birthday presents my friends gave since Primary 6. Cause i only got a mini birthday party when i was Primary 6. At that time, Ms Cheoh, my form teacher gave me a birthday cake candle. When you light the candle, there will also be birthday music coming out. Until now, i never use it. Cherished it until now. And many presents that my god sister gave during our month-sary. Then, i throwed away the 4 soft drink cans that i collected last time. Each drink can represents the hope and anticipation i long wished for.
Now, half of my room is clean! but not the other half. Will have to do the cleaning this coming weekend, and also paint the half side of my room. If i have time, i would like to try some DIY painting or mural on the wall.
Was reading Shirley’s blog, and was really envious that she can learn driving. I also want to learn. But, it’s Class 2B. But dont think my parents will allow. She will be inviting us to her house during Chinese New Year! Yay! can also see my future “in-laws”. I’m excited! The week after common test, will be Valentine Day and a long long break for CNY. This means that i will have to get my new year clothes ready! Actually, i got alot of clothes in my wardrobe. But, i dont know how to mix and match. What i need to get now will be a good running sport shoe, accessories, a watch and many more that i cant think of it now. Anyway, last friday, Suntec City Topshop was having 50% discount! and also MANGO sale which was ended yesterday! Missed it man, didnt know it until i read Claris’s blog.
Ending this blog with the Verse of the Day:
Matthew 7:7-8
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Yesterday, i was taking the MRT to church. I was standing at the door area, towards the outside. As the MRT was approaching from Buona Vista to Commonwealth, i saw buses stucked in the water. Everyone on the train was looking out to see what was going on. Looking down, there were many people waiting aimlessly for the buses. Smsed by brother to avoid that flooding area.
Met the other church friends at S11, and went for service. Today, Pastor Ben preached us about Responding to God’s Sentence (Micah 1:8-16). During the service, Calyn prayed for me for strength, and encouraged me with this verse:
[John 14:1] Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
This one week, was a tough time for me. No one knows about it. Just hope that i will have a blessed week ahead! ya? After the whole service, we went to Meridian for dinner. Ordered a bowl of green bean soup. And we chatted about how we plucked our teeth. I can still remember i plucked my 1st tooth myself and for my second tooth, my dad tied a string to the tooth and just plucked it out. It was painful and was bleeding. For that incident onwards, i dont dare to let my parents pluck my teeth!
After dinner, was walking back to Somerset MRT. Saw many miniature guitar models-electric guitars, acoustic guitars etc. Then, saw this Hello Kitty guitar. Yeah! i will be going there again to take a closer look!
